Our street lights set new standard for energy saving
By phil. Filed in energy-saving |ENERGY saving street lamps are to be installed in the Westfield area of Old Town.

The new bulbs uses around 30 per cent less energy than the standard lamps and illuminate more of the road, rather than nearby fields. The LED bulbs are designed to last for up to 10 years, three times longer than conventional bulbs. Insight Energy Creation, of Hebden Bridge, has supplied the lamps which could eventually be used throughout Calderdale. “Street lights are one of our largest users of electricity so it is important that we explore all options to help reduce the cost of running them and their environmental impact,” said the council’s economy and enterprise spokeswoman, Coun Amanda Byrne
